Welcome to Bricks Made Simple!

I'm Grant

Do you sometimes find a desire to open up your old LEGO bin and create something again? Something amazing? I certainly do. Like most of you, I grew up playing with LEGO. I built whatever came into my head, from castles to a truck with 23 sets of wheels.

My creations today are a little bit different. With a decade of building experience (and a degree in engineering), I have found that what I enjoy most now is telling stories through my creations. I love communicating ideas to people, inspiring and delighting them with the right combination of LEGO bricks.

I try to incorporate both eye-catching movement and clever uses of ordinary LEGO pieces in all my creations – it is this balance between my inner artist and engineer that yields the best stories. Creating something that moves elegantly and appears beautiful is the goal every time I sit down to build.

That goal is what led me to Bricks Made Simple – a place where people like you, a new or longtime fan of LEGO, can build creations that amaze with your own hands.

I hope you enjoy the creations! They were a blast to put together.

More About Grant:

My name is Grant Davis and I’ve been building custom creations and displaying them at LEGO conventions (yes, those are a thing) for over 10 years, though I’ve been addicted to LEGO for most of my life.

Like most young boys, I was really into playing with LEGO., But unlike most of my friends, I didn’t grow out of building LEGO – I only became more obsessed. I began sharing my creations online in 2014, primarily building pirate and castle-themed builds.

Eventually, I stumbled onto LEGOIdeas.com, where I submitted an idea for a LEGO Popup book set with the infamous LEGO YouTuber JK Brickworks in 2018. Against all odds, LEGO chose our idea to be produced and distributed around the world.

After another few years of honing my LEGO skills by collaborating with other builders and competing in multiple Iron Builder competitions, I applied for and was offered a job as a set designer for LEGO in Denmark. Although it would have been an amazing opportunity, I ultimately decided that I wanted creative control over what I was building. So, I began growing my LEGO YouTube channel as an outlet for my work.

In 2023 I was blessed to marry my amazingly gracious and beautiful wife Emma, who loves me despite my obsession with a toy made for kids. You’ll find us in Sherwood, Oregon, where I work as a computer engineer by day, scheming about the next LEGO model I’ll work on at night.
